Who am I?

My name is Daria Chrobok, I've drawn & painted since I was little.In my life, I focused on science & left art behind for a while.During my PhD I realized that science needs art & I started my own company to become a scientific illustrator.My love for art came in very handy & I managed to make a living from it.With time, I realized I enjoy the ease & spontaneity of art & sketching ideas the most.Not so much the polished, accurate, perfect & logical final illustrations.So I decided I want to share this love with you!

Insights on the purpose of sketching

The why?

- Sketching helps you to process your inner world!- It's about having an idea, developing it, conceptualizing it, scribbling around, and letting thoughts & more ideas flow at the same time while visualizing them.- When we use a pen & paper ourselves & sketch around, we process information, feelings & emotions on a deeper level.Similar to when we write, our inner world is processed, and the same is true when we scribble and sketch.

I am convinced that every human being can sketch.No need for talents, a gift, or fancy & expensive tools.The only thing you need is:Yourself.
Your interest & curiosity.
Pens & sheets of paper. Or a digital tool.
Ideas.That’s it.

The how?

- I will share with you why I believe that everyone can sketch.- We start with loosening up our fingers, hands and arms.- We will then go through some basics on how to “see” and translate that to the paper.- We will cover tangible objects and abstract ideas.- We will use references and practice how to incorporate them into our sketches.

Everything will be very practical and hands-on all the way!So be ready & have several sheets of paper prepared.I would also encourage you to have two ideas prepared.One rather concrete idea & the other a bit more abstract or fluffy.
